Really for the New York football Giants it was that simple this weekend. There are a lot of things you can point to as why the Giants failed to move on in their quest to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. The best running offense in the league failed to get two 4th and short runs. The vaunted Defense led by their rising star Defensive coordinator Spagnola decided to play soft the last two minutes of the first half giving the Eagles and Mcnabb confidence to come out firing in the second half. The Eagles could not move the ball in the first half. Westbrook was shut down. The Giants had a chance to take control of that game in the first quarter but failed to punch in the ball into the end zone.
I think the biggest question to ask this off season is how to replace Plaxico Burress. Say what you will about momentum but this team stumbled into the playoffs unlike their hot streak last year and it showed this weekend. Eli Manning and the offense missed him far more then anyone would have first expected. Manning never seemed to find that chemistry with Hixon and Toomer became invisible. The team needs first and foremost to get a primary target for Manning.
